-ORANGE-
Let’s face it, if you’ve ever eaten an orange, you know what you’re in for. Orange is one of those acts that’s extremely comfortable doing what they love and are not afraid to show the world they’re happy doing it. Orange’s new release, Orange, does exactly that. It’s an orange. But don’t get us wrong, there’s still plenty to like about Orange. For one thing, it’s an orange, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. It’s still got a tangy sweetness, the kind you first experienced when you put on your mother’s Orange and danced around the room when you were a kid. As it’s done in the past, Orange makes purposeful references to genres it helped found: the slinky bass line in “Orange 1” recalls Lime’s transcendent citrus-disco pantheon, Lime, while “Orange 6” is the biggest surprise here, punching with an acidity not seen since Lemon’s Lemon. Overall Orange’s Orange isn’t going to change your mind about Orange, but for those who are fans of what this act is selling, Orange will definitely give you what you need. It’s orange, and it’s an orange; orange you glad you listened to Orange?
