If you’re like me and continually forget how far recording software has come in the last few years, Emily E. Meo’s new EP will hopefully remind you of its possibilities. The Found EP, a quintessential “pandemic album” if anything, is five songs constructed entirely of household objects, each manipulated into melody and rhythm. Meo’s background as a sound designer for video games definitely shines here, not only in the stretching of her creative muscle but in the overall vibe of the EP. Opener “Kitchen Timer” feels like a spacey rendition of Eric Barone’s Stardew Valley soundtrack, while “Canning Jar’s” glassy plinks boasts vaguely Mitsuda vibes and “Electric Wine Glass” twists the eponymous drinking vessel into a current of twinkles. Joyously constructed and humbly presented, The Found EP is an outpouring of creativity wrought into a five-song collection of nimble melodies and a pleasant atmosphere.
Recommended for banging on the furniture.
